CST and the Immune Response (CSIR)
The immune system is involved in every treatment we do as CranioSacral Therapists. If the client is experiencing symptoms, there is some degree of inflammation, and the immune system is involved. It is vital that we, as therapists, learn how to work with this very important system of the body.
In this class, you will learn the anatomy and physiology of the immune system, as well as how to palpate the movement of immune cells in response to the craniosacral rhythm. You will learn to map inflammation in the body – to tell precisely which tissues are inflamed, whether that inflammation is chronic or acute, what parts of the immune system are involved in that inflammatory activity, and to some extent to what the immune cells are responding, all just by feeling their movement in the CSR. You will learn to communicate with the different components of the immune system to help improve their performance.
In addition to expanding your knowledge and awareness of the immune system, palpating the movement of the immune cells is subtle, and learning to do so will improve your palpation skills and increase the effectiveness of your treatments in general.
CSIR class material covers:
- functional layers of the immune system
- pathways where immune cells are normally found
- primary and secondary lymphoid organs
- innate immune system and its cell Gross
- adaptive immune system, including B- and T-cells
- detailed look at when things go wrong leading to autoimmune disorders, allergic reactions, chronic inflammation, cancer, infection, and more.
